Le canal hydraulique est utilis\u00e9 par les chercheurs du GRAP pour les projets de recherche et de consultation environnementale. Les \u00e9tudiants de ma\u00eetrise et de doctorat de l&#8217;\u00e9cole d&#8217;architecture de l&#8217;Universit\u00e9 Laval ont \u00e9galement acc\u00e8s \u00e0 cette ressource pour effectuer des simulations \u00e9oliennes. L&#8217;\u00e9tude d&#8217;espaces en fonction du vent permet de v\u00e9rifier l&#8217;habitabilit\u00e9 thermique d&#8217;un lieu. Le GRAP utilise aussi des logiciels de CFD (tel HUVENT) pour simuler le vent, mais le canal hydraulique, par son interactivit\u00e9 avec la maquette, permet un niveau de compr\u00e9hension spatiale inh\u00e9rent \u00e0 la pratique architecturale et urbaine. Le canal hydraulique est plus avantageux dans la visualisation des effets \u00e9oliens que la soufflerie, puisque les mouvements d&#8217;air sont proportionnellement ralentis par l&#8217;eau. Le calibrage du canal s&#8217;effectue selon la m\u00e9thode d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par Potvin [1994] pour permettre une marge d&#8217;erreur d&#8217;environ 5% avec un espace r\u00e9el.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><i>The hydraulic flume of the GRAP allows to perform simulations of wind effects on architecture and natural ventilation at different scales of a project : the urban scale, the architectural scale, and the scale of the detail. Simulations in the hydraulic flume have been part of several research grants as well as research contracts for applications to real case studies. Students at the Master and Ph.D. level also have access to this resource to assess the effect of wind and snow accumulations on building sites. The study of spaces in relation to wind and air movements allows for the verification of the habitability of a place. The GRAP also uses CFD software (such as HUVENT) to simulate the wind, but the hydraulic flume, for its interactive relation with models, allows a level of understanding inherent to architectural and urban practice. The hydraulic flume is more effective in the visualization of aeolian effects than the wind tunnel since air movements are proportionally slowed down by water. Des encres tra\u00e7antes peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9es pour visualiser les mouvements d&#8217;air dominant.
